Texturing Aircraft wing Panel technique

I have been doing aircraft models for quite sometime now and never had the chance to make some tips texturing them, i know it will  benefit  those who wanted to learn and create cool looking texture for their models.

BUILDING A SIMPLE SCENE USING MAYA AND PHOTOSHOP – PART 2 OF 2

I started compositing in Photoshop using four images.  One image was an aerial photograph that I picked up off of Shutterstock.  The other three had the aircraft as well as contrail guides.

I applied a hue/saturation adjustment to the aircraft as well as a photo filter adjustment.  My intention was to color cast the aircraft with a little blue so that they would merge better into the scene.  I also feathered the edges of the aircraft and used the erase tool …

Having built a lot of WWI and WWII aircraft over the years I decided it was time to finally do a little digital art image with a few of the models.  During a weekend in July 2011 I tossed together the image that can be seen below.  In its original size it is 4922 pixels across.  The aircraft were built and skinned in Maya and were integrated into a scene in Photoshop CS5.
