CONSTRUCTION OF A CATHEDRAL CHAPTER HOUSE (PART 2 OF 2)

With construction of the model completed it was time to skin the model.  Since some photos of the chapter house could be found online it wasn’t too difficult to determine basic color schemes to start with.  Unfortunately, a lack of photo references up close and all around could not be found so I had to be a bit fictional with regard to some of the bas relief surfaces.  In the end many of the wall sculpture images that were used had to be recycled for use in other parts of the building.  The stained glass also required simple and repeated textures on occasion (the real thing isn’t much different so changes from reality are relatively minor).  Since this was a personal project and not something we were being paid for I decided to keep everything simple so as not to take time away from paid projects.  Still,  despite some abstractions and repeatability I think it turned out nicely.  Here are some images of the finished and skinned structure:
